All Good Things Must Come To An End

I write this with the heaviest of hearts...

For those of you who haven't yet heard, this is my last week at Maximum Fitness.

It has been an incredible journey. I came to MaxFit looking for help like much of you reading this, I had been struggling with an eating disorder for 3 years. I was unclear where my life was going, or if I even wanted to be alive. But with the help of MaxFit, a running partner, and a therapist I made it through this terrible time. I am now eating disorder free, and have a clearer "life path".

I have been with Maximum Fitness for exactly 3 years. Like I mentioned, I started out as a client and somewhere along the way I became the trainer. I've seen a lot of you grow, just as you've seen me grow.

I've got to be a part of so many body and mind transformations, I have made a lot of personal progress, but above all else I have made so many friends.

I have met some incredible people! And I mean it, you all are fricken phenomenal! And have made an impact on me for life.

I look forward to following you all on Facebook, and keeping up with your progress. Keep kickin' ass!

I love you all and will miss you all more than you know.

It's been a beautiful journey..But where one door closes, another opens.

A Recap of 2011

Wow, so apparently it was an un-eventful year for me! I am sitting here trying to recall things that happened in 2011 that are even worth posting about. I did not get married, I am not pregnant, and I'm not engaged..I came up with a few other life changing things that happened though.

I had a couple PRs: shoulder press 105#, overhead squat 140#. I hope I had more then that and these are just the only ones I remember! Either way, I'm sure there are many more to come in 2012

I feel like all the BIG stuff hit me within the last 3-4 months.

  • I became an "auntie" to the cutest baby EVER.
  • I turned the big 2-1! Not super exciting, but just happy to have another birthday ;)
  • I started to develop a better relationship with God- With the help of a close friend I realized I NEEDED God in my life.
  • I began appreciating my friends and family more- I truly am a blessed person. I would argue that my family and friends are the best of the best.
  • I always new I loved what I did but wasn't sure why until recently- It's not because I get to make people fit, it's because I get to build FRIENDSHIPS. I am a Boot Camp instructor, therapist ;), and friend to many people. And I love that.
  • Goals- I began setting goals, it only took 20 years and 8 months to REALLY set goals. For the longest time I was that person that said I had a goal, and when it got tough, I went running..Well not anymore. I am ready to face any challenges life throws my way!
  • I am beginning to realize the things I want from life, and the person I have to be to have achieve these things, and reach the next level.

2011 wasn't a super crazy year, but it was good one. I learned a lot about fitness, nutrition, love and life

I cannot wait to see what 2012 has in store for me, if it's anything like I've prayed it would be, then it is going to be out of this world.

Hope everyone has a great New Years...2012 here we come! :)

Are You Where You Want To Be?

Wow, so I just read another blog..Where the simple question "Are you where you want to be? " was asked. And I can honestly answer this question with a NO. But I can also say that I am working my ass off to get to where I want to be.

I have this goal in mind...I can see myself reaching it, and every day I work on doing the things that I need to do to be the person that achieves this goal. The beauty of my goal is that I am the only person who needs to know what it is, I am the only person that can make it happen, and I am the only person that can feel the accomplishment from it..If that makes sense.

So once again, I am reminding everyone to set some goals..Where do you see YOURSELF in a year? Five years? Ten years? Who is going to be by your side when you reach your goals??? Think about it, I mean REALLY think about it..Then make it happen! ;)

Let's get it 2012!

Is that Paleo?

Hey Friends!

Hope everyone had an awesome weekend! I know I did..Got to go to Ohio and spend some time with my family, and do a little shopping ;)

Okay, so I'm not sure how many of my readers are also Paleo eaters, but this could apply to anyone who is dieting not just Paleo-ers.

It's absolutely one of the most ANNOYING, RUDE things people do when you are on a diet or just live a different lifestyle then the average person..How many of you have been around people who hate anyways, but when you eat something they say "Is that Paleo?", "Is that on your diet?" , "I bet that's not Paleo.."...Well guess what, it's none of your DAMN business!

It's hard enough to live a healthy lifestyle with people around you who don't, so when you have people around you who not only don't live the life you do, but judge you for when you slip up, well it sucks!

Maybe you are thinking they're just looking out for you..blah blah..Typically someone who is saying things like that is not someone who is looking out for you, they are looking for a way to make YOU feel bad, so they can feel good..People feed off of others failure! Sick, I know. But it's true.

So with the holidays coming up-I'm not saying cheat- but if you do, don't let someone else get the best of you!

Cheating- Is It Worth It?

I knew I wanted to write a blog today, but I had no clue what I wanted to talk about so I decided to go ahead and talk about CHEATING!

So I recently cheated, a BIG cheat, I can't believe my stomach even gets that big kinda cheat.
And I am miserable! It's been about 3 days now. And I am still paying for it! By paying for it, I mean-I'm up a ton on the scale (not that I'm fixated on that), I have more cravings then a room full of pregnant women, and I am exhausted!

Is it worth it is the question I am currently asking myself..I mean is there really a food worth being bloated, tired and wanting food so bad you could cry (yes, I've done that before)? I am at the point that every time I cheat I am that much closer to not ever wanting to again!

If you're having trouble understanding where I am coming from, I think it's because the stricter you diet, the harder the cheat becomes..If your cheats don't make you miserable, maybe we should talk about your diet ;)

Yes, this post doesn't have a lot of advice in it, but food is all I've thought about since I cheated, so I needed to get it off my chest!

Consistency-There is no "Except"

Hey again! Just want to worn everyone in advance that this may sound a little "rant-ish"..

Okay, so here is the thing that has been bugging me lately. When I ask someone how they've been eating and they say "Oh, I've been doing so good EXCEPT for last night" and it never fails I ask someone, and they always have that "except" answer..There is NO except. In the past couple months, I have learned that you have to say consistent with your diet and workout regimen if you want to see the results..

You think because you've eaten good for a day, that you can reward yourself with two days of eating bad..It just can't be that way! I am proud that you've done it for a day, I'm sure you are feeling good after making it through a whole day, but we then tell ourselves that we made it a day, so we deserve a cheat..And that one bad meal turns in to a day, then another day. Been there done that. So I do know how it feels to think that you deserve something. But in reality, you don't. If you really want to see results, and I think that a lot of you do, then you have to say consistent with a good diet and workout routine. So this whole 2:1 ratio of bad days and good isn't going to cut it.

If you want to lose the weight, feel the energy, and become stronger then it's time to sit down and set a goal..Eat good for two weeks, heck if the two week mark gets here and you don't feel like cheating then go another week..then have a cheat MEAL, yes a meal not day or a weekend. But when I say eat good, that doesn't mean you come to me and say, "I had a bite of this" or "a handful of that"..That's the stuff I'm talking about, if you want results, you CAN'T do those things! Stay on it. Stay consistent.

Don't just stay consistent with your food, stay consistent with your workout too. You can't have one without the other. Nutrition and working out go together like peanut butter and jelly (don't eat that though ;))

If you don't set a goal to workout X number of days a week and stick with it, then it's going to be even harder to reach those goals. You have to stay consistent with your workouts. You can't wake up one day and say that since it's raining you aren't going to workout. Your body doesn't work that way. You have to set yourself some type of schedule and STICK WITH IT.

It's your body, treat it with the respect it deserves.

GOALS!

Hey guys,
I've recently set some new goals for myself. Personal, fitness, and business goals..Setting these goals has inspired me to write on here again today!

With the first of the year approaching I hope everyone is thinking about at least  one thing they want to accomplish in 2012. The amount of goals you can set are endless, when setting goals the sky is the limit. But make sure you are setting something attainable. If you want to save $500 dollars a week and only make $400, then you should start with something smaller. I know this from experience, and you may too! I'm sure we've all set some crazy goals, and when they didn't happen, or something got in our way we just gave up.

After you've set your goal, it's time to start figuring out how you are going to reach it. If one of your goals is to lose 20lbs in 4 months but you haven't worked out since your high school PE class then I guess it's time to get moving! Go for a walk- start small. Once you see how good this feels, then do more..Go to a gym..Heck by a workout DVD. Just do something. Sitting on the couch is not going to help you shed 20lbs.

I'm sure we've all been a "victim" of procrastination, right? ;) Coming from experience again,  procrastinating isn't going to assist you in your goals AT ALL! Going back to a money saving goal, if you want to save $400 dollars a month and wait to the very last day to start, odds are $400 dollars isn't going to fall out of the sky (I wish!) Save a little at a time. You have to be working towards your goal from the time you set it, and on. You want to make an "A" on that paper? It's more likely to happen if you don't wait till the night before it's due to get it started. Save yourself the stress, and DON'T PROCRASTINATE!

There are so many reasons people give up on their goals..If you don't really know why you even set a goal, you are more likely to give up on it. Ask yourself why. If you want to lose weight, why? Are you unhappy with your appearance, have you been made fun of? WHY? You can't set goals just because it's the first of the year and everyone else is doing it to. Be real with yourself and find out why you want to accomplish what ever your goal may be.

And my last thing, don't give up! We all have our bad days. The days that make us feel like are goals will never be reached..The people who reach their goals are the ones who put those days behind them, and work even harder the next day!

I'm super curious to hear what some of my clients, friends, and families goals are? They don't necessarily have to do with fitness, they can be ANYTHING!
